In 2011, Dutch photographer Charlotte Dumas embarked on a quest to locate the last surviving 9/11 search and rescue dogs who had worked so tirelessly ten years earlier. Retrieved is a collection of their portraits, a moving tribute to these heroic dogs and their handlers.
Not exactly what I usually post, but it is never a bad time to honor some furry heroes.
So, evidently, the search and rescue dogs that worked in the 9/11 rubble were getting upset because almost all of the people they found weren’t alive. The dogs became very subdued, and depressed while working, so firefighter and police volunteers that were on break would hide in the rubble so the dogs could find them and feel good about finding someone alive.

Odds and Ends
The Rays tool their annual team picture this afternoon. They left an empty seat between Joe Maddon and Davey Martinez for Don Zimmer.
Per Roger Mooney, Longoria said his knee is sore from colliding with first base umpire Larry Vanover last night. Kismet? Longo and Maddon discussed this being a DH day earlier in the week.
Wil Myers will take BP Monday in Port Charlotte and begin minor league rehab Saturday in Durham.
